SONGS OF TRAVEL
Can festivals influence their artists - and their audience - to live in a more sustainable way? The answer is sought in the transnational project Songs of Travel, which aims to raise awareness and promote empathy for climate change and migration through music. Fairplay Chamber Music is collaborating with Ireland's Cellissimo/Music for Galway, Norway's Valdres Sommersymfoni and the Dutch Piano Biënnale, the Austrian game development studio Causa Creations and climate researchers from the University of Galway. The result will be five commissioned works by composers Hawar Tawfiq, Djuro Zivkovic, Lasse Thoresen, Elaine Agnew and Karmit Fadael, a mobile Interactive Motion Comic, educational materials for schools, a green policy for music festivals and a report on sustainability in music. The idea is that the results of the project will benefit the entire industry and stimulate people to take greater responsibility for our common future.
