Our Academy is open to participants aged 15 and above, and lessons, food and accommodation are free of charge for all participants.

Each year, 24 students are admitted to the Academy which takes place during the Fairplay Chamber Music Festival. The Academy consists of individual lessons, chamber music performed with the teachers, joint lessons, master classes and concert opportunities for all students. Our teachers are among the very top of the international chamber music scene and each student receives 4 hours of individual lessons. Most lessons are private but some are also open to the public. All students perform at least one chamber music movement (8-15 minutes) together with other students and Academy teachers. All students are expected to be in Järna for the duration of the Academy.

The academy and festival take place at Kulturhuset in Ytterjärna, located about 50 km south of Stockholm. Vegetarian meals with locally produced ingredients are served daily. Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses.

Fairplay Chamber Music strives to be a climate neutral organization, therefore all participating artists and students are expected to travel all the way to and from Järna by train, bus or electric car. Traveling climate neutral to Järna is an absolute requirement to participate in the academy. We do not accept any exceptions to this requirement!

REQUIREMENTS

BEFORE YOU APPLY, MAKE SURE YOU:

1. Meet the age requirement of being 15 years or older.
2. Have uploaded one or more videos on YouTube or Vimeo and have access to the links.
3. Have prepared a current artistic biography of maximum 100 words and a detailed summary of your previous studies.
4. Are confident that you can travel to Järna in an environmentally friendly way.

APPLICATION

Applications are accepted annually between January 15 and March 31.
On the basis of the applications and recordings submitted, a selection is made to admit students to the Fairplay Chamber Music Academy. Notification is usually given within two weeks after the closing date for applications.

1. Admission test
Record one or more videos of yourself performing two contrasting pieces (about 10-20 minutes in total). Recordings made with smartphones are accepted but we prefer as good quality as possible. Publish the video on YouTube or Vimeo, it can be an unlisted clip but do not use password protection.

2. Pay the compulsory application fee of 30€ here: ‍‍.

The application fee is mandatory and non-refundable. Transactions are handled through PayPal but you do not need to have a PayPal account to make the payment. As an alternative for those who cannot use PayPal, we offer the possibility to use a direct bank transfer. However, we prefer that you use PayPal if possible. Bank transfer:
